I did that once - left an enclosure with front-opening sliding doors wide open for some six hours, and the snakes were still hanging out in their usual spots when I realized it
the truly lucky thing was that the cats hadn't noticed either

Happens to me all the time. Once it was my orange albino radixes. Both of them, and I left for two days, no top.

I totally freaked out but there they were, snug in their hides. Whew!

I've done it too... and there are climbs that pratically touch the screen... he could get out easily. But never tries...
