Re: Fish & Gelatin: A Total Success!

Made it, turned out beautiful, no one's eating... sigh... someday, they'll eat something... body condition still looks fine on both babies, so I guess we're ok. It's just frustrating. The salmon jello was rather easy to make, though and turned out very well! Thanks again Charles for brining this to our attention and all of you who gave it a try and reported back

i have a question does the vitamin supp you use contain vitamin a or beta carotene because there is a risk of poisoning with stright vitamin a beta carotene gets manipulated by the body to produce vitamin a in a controlled way that it cant basicaly overdose this is why charles was told to use beta carotene

oh and congrats on your success with this shanon

    Nice shannon .!!!Congrad.
As I said on other tread I don't add any much water in it because of the conservation, the food will not last long time in the freezer, frozen burn and ice ..Its kinda hard to keep the mixture in good shape...more water in it means more ice and snow in the zipploc!!!
maybe you should make a small quantity...help conservation.
we getting better on each recipe...

Oh, and what I did was boil the water and pour it into the blender, turn blender on, add gelatin packet, then added fish chunks while the blender was on, through that little hole in the lid Seemed to work well.

Add the gelatin into boiling water and whip it until the gelatin is liquid then add the liquide gelatin into the blender to help the blender mixt.every excess of fluid as guts dont help the gelatin to congeal .
you dont notice the lack of gelatin until its ready to serve.gelatin is pure protein..its wrote on the lebel.!

Good note about the beta carotene, I wondered why it was used vs just a mulltivitamin. Makes sense. Appreciate the tips on mixing too, will help with the next batch.

So far my one baby female marcianus is on it completely, and the male that ignored it first try I may leave on pinks + worms to see if I notice substantial differences in growth. Not really scientific as one's male and one's female and the male is a bit older & larger but still might show some signs within it's own self & growth rates. Basically looking at it as overall general look & growth.

Re: Fish & Gelatin: A Total Success!

oh and I must mention my female erythristic banded water snake gorged herself silly out of a bowl of it while the male hypo continued to try and boink her!!! He raised his head long enough to suck one piece off my tongs, but was still courting her while eating!!! I have already seen one definite copulation that lasted hours, and he is always right beside her, even if he's not courting her at the moment, he is just always along for the ride! lol!!! They soak in the water bowl together, they bask together.... young and in love!

the other male just hides... peeks his head out at me... lazily flicks his tongue.... hes like the old married guy who doesn't care anymore!!!
