I'll have to give this a try when I get back. But first I have to get my two garters off live and onto trout and salmon. ( I'm anticipating difficulties. Maybe I'll be happily surprised?)

One question: Do you use the same blender for other things when finished? Like human food? The last time I used the thing was when I made nettle soup!

You can find used blenders and food processors very cheaply at the Salvation army or other local thrift store if the idea of fishy residue in your blender bothers you.

    Nettle soup?
I'd love to see your recipe!
Hmmm Maybe we need a recipe exchange thread or two- one fir Human treats, one for food, remedies and other home-brewed things we do for the snakes!

Thought I would give this thread a bump as this subject matter hasn't been discussed in awhile.

I don't have any fish eating snakes anymore and I personally liked this stuff at first but its much easer to simply use the whole prey diet which I am a huge advocate of. Whole prey items beat meat and powder supplements any day.

Re: Fish & Gelatin: A Total Success!

I tried it...wanted to make it really firm so i used lots of gelatin and boy.....was it ever firm. But my snakes wouldnt eat it ...maybe too much gelatin. And yes i agree with whole foods are easier.
