    Rescued from Cruelty

This beautiful orange phase male T.radix(Plains Garter) was rescued by my new neighbor and given to my daughter Molly. According to him kids had it cornered and were hitting it with sticks.
I gave a checkover and he looks fine. I'm keeping him for a few and then decide whether he's returning to the real world.

Gorgeous Snake... rotten kids At least the kids who were torturing Sly weren't intentionally trying to hurt him.

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Some people's kids. I had a run in with some brothers and their sister this last weekend. I was looking around my normal Wandering Spot. These kids walked by with a cardboard box- there were 12? wandering garters in there. They were going to sell them. I'm sure what I told them wasn't legit, but I didn't care. I told them that removing the snakes from the area was illegal and I was going to have to call the cops and their parents. They put them back damn quick- I just hoped they weren't too disruptive to their spring flings.

    Great save.
Many, if not all those snakes would have probably died. Death by crickets! Dehydration and all the other ways these poor things die at the hands of humans.
