    She IS a girl . . . isn't she?

Finally got some decent pictures of Mishka's cloaca and tail area.

I have done the 'popping' test and results suggest female but I could be doing it wrong.

Soooooo I have posted them, can anyone tell from these pictures if she really is a girl?

I hate to say it but in my opinion you have a male there.
That tail stays way too wide for too long.
Your third photo is best for seeing the tail area.
Looks like a very typical male tail and body structure.

I agree...looking at that last photo, there is no tapering...I'd have to say male too. Popping is tricky and if you don't do it right, inconclusive...also, I think it's too risky...may hurt the snake if you don't know what you're doing. I don't recommend it. We can usually tell accurately from pics. I'm going with male. But if it makes you feel any better...I have heard the name Mishka used for a male . I love that name. I had a husky named Mishka.

Pretty much like Izy. I will not change his name though (Izy's OK, as long, as you don't try to call him with his full name, Izyda that is; Izydor sounds just fine and shorter version still fits).
Kleopatra - never forget. [*]; Lamprophis fuliginosus, male - Amon; Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis, male - Izy; Pantherophis guttatus anerythristic, female, Nefretete; Lampropeltis sinaloae - Vita.

    Re: She IS a girl . . . isn't she?

Yes I agree, I guess I just hoped for a girl. I can now confirm that SHE is actually a HE, I tried the pooping test again and tried doing it slightly different and got it right. I love the name but not for a boy so I am renaming him (feels weird to say him) Maska, which is very similar to Mishka and if I ever get another (which I would love to) I could get a girl and their names would sound good together

Marnie? is your husky a boy or girl?

I don't know much about popping but I think it's done on very young snakes.
Injuries can occur if done when they are to big.

Yeah I read this but she is still only little, I mean HE is only little ha ha. I wanted to do it just so I knew if I was doing it right and wanted to do it right and just once while he is still small so I knew for sure of the sex.

I won't do it now unless it was impossible to tell other wise.

Does anyone have any pictures of a female so I can compare for future reference?
