Hey guys I got a nice blackneck to show yall!! long time no post!

Found this girl the other day. She was just basking after a couple days of rain. She is not flexing her head its just that big!! Her colors are amazing! The peach orange goes down most of her body.... I dident get a good pic of that. Im going to try to get her on scented mice. Shes looking a little skinny but with some feeding she will be nice a plump!

She does look a little lean for that head size.
Might want to have a fecal float done. Parasites can cause them to loose weight.
Then again Texas has been in a terrible drought so prey may be sparse.

Re: Hey guys I got a nice blackneck to show yall!! long time no post!

I she dosent eat Ill let her go in a better place. My friend owns a ranch with several fresh water lakes and creeks. Its heaven for any snake. I find a bunch of blacknecks all over the place.... they are like radix back in nebraska. I fail most of the time in getting them to feed. So I just let them go. ill try to find some toads to get her feading first than try the scented mice! Ill keep this updated. I might as well just start taking pics of all the animals I find here and start a thread! Texas is frickin crazy when it comes to reptiles!!

You should let her go where you found her, if you do let her go. You could introduce pathogens to the other populations if you let her go somewhere else. Plus she knows the places to hide and where to find food and where to den for the winter where she was found.

Nice find! You're lucky to still be seeing them out and about this time of year.
