some new pics (some garter some water)

Here's a lousy shot of 2 of my 3 Central American blackbelly garter snakes in their water bowl. Both of them ate 2 rosy reds each before this pic.

Here's another not-so-great pic, this is a Santa Cruz baby eating a rosy red, difficult to take pics through the side of a kritter keeper cage.

And here are a couple more pics of the white water snake, it looks like the last bit of her tail was bit off a while ago, I'm surprised this snake made it to adulthood in the wild without being picked off by something else.

Awesome snakes mike! Try not to use the rosy reds too much i don't think they are on the safe list.

Nice Mike, can't wait to see if the white sided is recessive or co-dom/dom. Cool project to say the least, keep us informed!!!

Awesome! That water snake is sweet!

And yeah, rosies carry thiamnaise, only a little better than goldfish (really bad). Dont go heavy on them.

Very nice! Ditto on the rosy reds. I know they were on the 'safe lists' a few years ago, but they were found to contain thiaminaise. It shouldn't be too tough to add strips of fish fillet or even pinkies to their water with the rosy reds and switch them over to something else.

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

That water snake is amazing looking. I'd love to see the results of that breeding project.

I will lay money on the fact that it's recessive.

Re: some new pics (some garter some water)

I'm not a fan of using fish at all for feeders, I usually go to pet co every 2 weeks and buy 4 dozen of the rosy reds... By the time I get home at least half of them are dead. Within 24 hours after that usually all of them are dead, then in the freezer in seperate bags of 12 for easier feeding.
I feed the snakes often to get them off of fish and onto mice as quick as possible, getting small worms is too much of a hassle for feeding them daily... My CA Red Sided babies are going to be offered adult mouse tails for their next meal and hopefully they never need fish again.

I'm sure the white water snake morph is recessive as well, but it will probably be at least 2 years before I'll know for sure. It'd be nice if she was gravid now. lol.
