First Kiss
Had my first real bite from Sage today. Was feeding her by hand for the first time, was going pretty well until she overshot the fuzzy and hit the back of my hand. After her sitting there for a bit she just let go and then took that mouse and the one after it no problem. Fun times

Aww, so sweet
Houdini has done that a couple of times, but he always freaks out when he gets my hand instead of the food he was expecting.

Re: First Kiss
Good job! Now you're poisoned by garter's venom! Oh, you didn't know? Garters are venomous! Lucky for you, their venom works only on night crawlers.

Re: First Kiss
I remember reading of a case - in someplace like Texas or Oklahoma - where some kid got a pretty hefty dose of garter venom in his blood. The kid was a real outdoors type anyway, so it was likely the garter smelled food on his hand and just latched on to his finger and refused to let go. He finally had to have the janitor pry the snake off with a screwdriver (ouch! poor snakey!). Anyway, he became terribly ill as a result, but after a couple of hours, it was as if nothing had happened.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Re: First Kiss
But let's calm down our friend - to inject venom, garters have to chew your finger, because their venom fangs are in the back of their jaws.

That, and bee venom is more potent than garter venom.

Re: First Kiss
I'm sensitive to their venom, if they chew , or if they just break the skin and my finger touches their fangs, my hand swells up, turns purple and tends to lose feeling in my fingers but throb with pain. They can bit and break the skin and I don't have much more than a little swelling and itching, but if they bite with more than their front teeth, it gets bad.

Re: First Kiss
The bites from my WC , at least the deeper ones, made the bites itch.. which i thought was weird.
