    Question on housing males/females together

Right now both my eastern garters that are housed separately since one is only a baby. I was planning on moving them into the same enclosure whenever Harley gets big enough to not get accidentally hurt or bitten during feeding time just because I think Houdini would enjoy being housed with another snake. I don't mind if there are babies, and eventually I'm hoping to get a litter from the two of them. I was just wondering if an under-sized female would mate, which could be potentially dangerous for her, or do they not become sexually mature until they reach their adult size?

None of this would be happening any time soon since Harley would probably lose a fight with a nightcrawler at this point.. but there's still a lot I don't know about the way these snakes work and I'm just curious

Sexual maturity seems to be a species by species thing. I've never had a radix female breed before reaching at least 18 months old(far from being an adult size)
I think other member have reported breeding as eaarly as 12 months. One even young.
As you see, it's hard to answer your question directly.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.

Yeah, I figured it was kind of a difficult question. Mainly I just wanted to make sure she wouldn't breed before it was healthy for her if she got put in the same tank as a male.

No, but that would be pretty hilarious I have no clue how they'd look.
