Update on the snake named Slick.

Here is the latest update on the snake. I named it Slick for the lack of a better name to think of. Anyway, Slick have eaten 4 minnows in the past seven days. All of the minnows were eaten at night when everyone is sleeping. Slick only come out of the hide in the afternoon to curl up on top of the plant or to swim in the water bowl. Also very shy, if Slick notice that someone is watching then it will slither back to the hide until the person stop watching.

The A/C is still not working so I brought an Accurite(with Highs, Lows, and Humidity) during the weekend. The temperature fluctuate in the house from 78 in the morning to 89 in the afternoon with the humidity in the 60-65% range. Two of the four pet dwarf hamsters died from the heat, but Slick is fine.

I did have to move Slick's cage from window when the cage started going into the low 90's in the morning on Monday.

Now that Slick is eating the minnows fine, I will like to try to move it away from minnows on to the pinkies. Slick ate pinky parts once before when teased with it, but it did not work the last time I tried it.

When scenting a pinky with minnows, do I need to cover the pinky completey with fish slime or fish water? Or just rub the fish on the pinky's head and back?

I figure Slick is just going to ignore it, so is putting Slick in a small container with the pinky(s) overnight a good option to try? How large the container will it need to be for a 12 inch snake?

What i do is rub the fish slime all over the pinky and they usually take it.

If he's taking food in his enclosure but still a bit nervous I might try giving the scented pinkies in his enclosure first just to see if he'll take them there then try a feeding container. Some of my animals eat better when they've got a feeding container routine and some (like my overly jumpy garter :P) freak out when they go to a strange cage and won't eat.
But the feeding container doesn't need to be very large... If you go on youtube and look for some videos of people feeding snakes you can probably get a good idea of how big the feeding containers need to be in comparison to the size of the snake.

Slick ate a scented live pinky today. Hopefully, it will become easier to feed slick pinkies from now on. Although, I had to use the tease feeding technique instead. Slick showed interest in the pinkies but get scared easily then they wiggle. So, tease feeding helped in this case.
