    Rattle Snake Report.

I was at my local pet store yesterday when one of the employees told me another customer had been in and reported catching 2 baby Rattle Snakes. I want to get a look at them to see if it's true. I'm guessing the guy caught a North Water Snake but according to him both the babies had rattle buds on the end of their tails. When the guy returns they are going to give him my number. The location identified was only a mile from my house. I'll be heading to that location to see if I can verify the account.
There hasn't been a reported Rattle snake in my county for a long time.
    I'll keep you posted

Not out of the realm of possibility I suppose. This would be the season for finding baby rattlers and your really in prime range and habitat for prairie rattlers or maybe even timber rattlers. If I had to guess where it was found I would say about a mile EAST of your house in the hilly more heavily forested area.

That's what I was thinking since they have been reported in the next county south of ours.

    Re: Rattle Snake Report.

I just got back from about a 2 hour search. I came up with no signs of Rattle snakes. This area was under water for most of Spring, Summer and Fall. I looked for any sheds.
I flipped about a hundred rocks and wood. I saw a number of frogs but no snakes of any kind.
I did get some good news from the Conservation Officer that was at the park. He told me he's seen a number of garter snakes in an area just outside the park.
This is good news for me since this is a release area I use for rescued snake and there babies.
I was able to pick up some nice drift wood for my snake enclosures.
There was a good number of Cricket Frogs in the area and I found some Turkey Fungus on many of the fallen trees.
Even though I found not rattle snakes I had a great time getting out.

I found some really nice drift wood for a few of my enclosures.
I sprayed it all down and will try to get it dried out.
I will be contacting the makers of Provent-A-Mite tomorrow to see of their product can be sprayed on the wood.
Most of the pieces I picked up are to big for my oven.
The snakes are going to have a lot of fun with this stuff once I introduce it.

Over the weekend I returned to that river area only to find it under water. Big rains up north have force some of the States to open their dams up more. It usually takes a week for the water to pass through this area.
