    NY Checkereds on the Ranch

I felt honored when Rhea contacted me about adopting her group of baby Checkereds. All arrived safe and sound this morning.
Little Bugsy has a Vet. appointment in about an hour and hopefully there will be some kind of treatment for his eye condition. He did eat shortly after he arrived.
He has a great attitude and I hope to give him a good life here on the Ranch.

Bugsy has an eye infection that causes the tear duct to plug. This causes fluid to build in the eye until it busts.
My Vet. went ahead and relieved the pressure on both eyes and put Bugsy on eye drops for the infection. He is hoping the infection will clear up and Bugsy will get some vision back.
Here are the drops she will be on for a long while, 2-4 times a day.

He was born with the condition so is it possible that the draining duct was closed for some other reason (birth defect?) and then the fluid build up subsequently developed infection after birth?

What I mean is, you can get a blister(pocket of fluid) but it becomes infected after the fluid has been there for some time.

Bugsy is being moved to the family room so he can get as much attention as possible. I've held him a couple times and he's a real joy.
I hope he lives a long life on the Ranch.

I hope to spoil him to a long and happy life.
According to my Vet. if the back of the eyes(retina) are intact he may regenerate the eye.
