Prepping for first food

Tonight I offered a group of new born radixes some cut up night crawlers. I have these babies in a container and have to water them twice a day. It has been since this morning since their last drink. I noticed one of the babies drinking some of the worm blood and fluids that had collected in the feeding dish. I poured a small amount of water into the food dish so they could drink.
What are your thoughts about this maybe prepping these snakes to eat at a later time. It gives them a taste of the food and probably offers some nutritions.
I've had trouble with snakes eating but never drinking. Do you think this could be an advantage for those slow eaters or failure to thrive snakes?

That's a good idea Steve, I never thought of that. Just make sure the fluids are fresh. Don't want them drinking festering bacteria water. I would also make sure they have fresh clean water besides that.

A heavy mist once or twice a day can't hurt. I've had babies that wouldn't drink from pooled water at first. They got their drinks from drops of "dew" that collected from these daily mists. The drops running down the side of the glass would get their attention, and they'd rush over to drink them up, or drink them off of each other!

If you're sure some snakes won't drink, it's either because they are getting enough moisture from their food, or they would rather drink collected "dew"

I have noticed that sometimes a little misting will get a snake eating, if that snake was essentially interested, but a bit hesitant

And sometimes, putting a non-feeder in with an enthusiastic one, will get them eating. (competitive instinct?)
