    ID help

I took some pictures of a Thamnophis species that was new to me while on vacation in Texas this past weekend. I'm from the west coast so have never encountered this one in the field before. I was hoping someone could confirm the ID as a Gulf Coast Ribbon Snake or correct it if that's wrong. The snake was about 18 inches long and was the brightest blue I've ever seen on a garter or ribbon snake. Thanks!

I believe your ID is correct, but I'm not 100% sure. It's definitely a T. proximus.

I know know nothing about how to ID a Ribbon so I will leave that to others, but those are awesome shots of an amazing specimen!

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to all of you for your welcomes and replies. The consensus I'm hearing is that this is a Gulf Coast Ribbon Snake, and that it's just a really bright one. I'd never seen one before my wife found this one. I thought it was a really gorgeous animal. Our west coast garters and ribbons aren't nearly this handsome! That's it for me for now. Thanks again!
