    Sci fair proceedures

for those whom contacted here they are u may chang them to ur liking but keep actuall testing as is
    Research Plan
    A. Question/problem- Does Heat & Humidity Affect How Many Times Thamnophis Snakes Taste The Air?
Purpose-to show that thamnophis’s tendency to taste the air will be affected by heat & humidity.
    B. Hypothesis/goal- I believe that heat and humidity will affect how many times a thamnophis snake will taste the air because when the atmosphere is different things feel out of place and thamnophis snakes are a curious family of snakes which like to explore their environment.
Null Hypothesis- That heat & humidity dose not have an effect on thamnophis species.
    C. Procedure

    • DO NOT FEED SNAKE THE MOST CURRENT MEAL BEFORE EXPERIMENT IS TO BE CONDUCTED AS IT MAY AFFECT THE DATA! (see step 25 for more info)
    • An empty terrarium will be set on the top of a solid (non moving ) surface.
    • The bottom of the terrarium will be lined with paper towels
    • The edges of the terrarium will be taped to the paper towels.
    • The temp. & humidity gauges will be placed on the back interior side of the terrarium (so they will be facing researcher)
    • The heat lamp will be placed on top so the bulb will be facing inside the terrarium
    • The temp of the room will be taken & recorded.
    • The water dish will be put in the terrarium
    • Water will be sprayed on the interior sides of the terrarium
    • The snake will be placed in the terrarium
    • Then 10-15 min will be waited before next step
    • The water dish will be taken out
    • Then one person will time 1:00 and record how ever many times the 2nd person sees the tongue. (the 2nd person says 1 then two so on and so fourth) until the time runs out.
    • The data will be recorded
    • The water dish will be put back into the terrarium
    • The heat lamp will be turned on
    • The sides of the terrarium will be sprayed with water
    • The light will be turned on until it reaches 3 degrees F above the last temp taken
    • (Wait 15 min before going to next step while maintaining the 3 degrees above temp.)
    • The water dish will be out
    • The light will be turned off
    • The inside of terrarium will be sprayed with water as fast as possible
    • Then recording will start immediately as the snake is tasting the air (since the temp should have dropped about two degrees record it at 1 degree above last recorded temp.)
    • Then steps 10 through 22 will be repeated until temp. reaches 92 degrees F (use multiple heat lamps if need be)
    • The data will be overlooked as well as the snake for variables such as foggy eyes (shows they’re about to shed), lump in stomach from recently devoured food as it slows down their metabolism, and any signs of illness.

    D. Data Analysis
All data will be analyzed and will be put on a series of graphs and charts.

    Re: Sci fair proceedures

    Looking forward to the data!

Any predictions anyone? I'm guessing that the tongue will flicker more in humidity.
