Maritimes in newyork

is it true that there are maritime garter snakes present in populations in newyork i hear some newyorkers on this forum who have found maritime garters in newyork?

I dont know about maritimes but i herd thers a Melanistic population in Staten Island....im trying to find more info but no luck yet
