    decision time

    Hi again all,

after long absence from the site due to a devastating family tragedy the time has come to broach the subject of whether i have enough time to devote to my 4 checkered garters. I am finding that I with time being taken up with other issues I am not handling the snakies as much as I did before - is it time to think about selling my snakes?? I only ask because I want to do what is best for them and their well-being

Sorry to hear about your family. Hope things are working out for you.

Snakes don't require much handling. As long as their other needs (food, fresh water, clean enclosure, etc.) are being met, they should be fine. Do you still enjoy having them around? Or do you feel they are more of a chore than a joy? Do you have the time and the energy to take care of their needs? These are just some things to think about, it is always hard to tell someone else what they should do. If you still enjoy having them around and you can take care of them, even if you don't handle them much, I would say keep them....

    Sorry to hear that.

I agree with LeAnn, don't feel bad about not handling your snakes as often. They'll be fine as long as they get clean water and the occasional meal.

So sorry to hear that I agree with the others, though. If you enjoy having them around and can meet their basic needs the snakes will be fine.

Sorry to hear of your troubled times. I wouldn't pass the snakes of yet though, give it some time and they will keep giving you joy. At the end of the day you should choose the option that is better for you.

As stated ahead of me, I am sorry to hear of your family tragedy. If the snakes provide a distraction for you and are comforting, you find enjoyment from having them, don't worry about not handling so often. Keep up basic care because at this time they will be therapeutic for you.
