That's not a turtle with two heads, that is two twin turtles stuck in one body

    how sad!

I don't know if you all watch much Animal Planet (another of my addictions) but the first episode of "Weird, True and Freaky" had a bunch of examples of animals like that. Like Shannon said, that was probably twins that didn't separate, but there were also things like a growth hormone malfunction that caused two faces on one cat and one pig, extra legs on things, etc. And they weren't the result of pollution or anything, just genetic/hormonal/etc. abnormalities that happen one in 40 scobillion or something.

They did have several snakes on the show that were unseparated twins. They moved a little funny, and while I'm sure they wouldn't have lived in the wild, they did just fine in captivity. The conjoined twins seem to do okay, but the ones with 2 faces, etc. don't last long.

I actually watched that EXACT episode... how corny was the opening clip for each animal with the animated two headed snake snapping and hissing at itself... LOL! I found that show interesting...to a point. But the way they itemized and singled the animals out was the same way that circus's full of freak shows are. information-wise, it was very brief, general, and you could tell the makers of the show really did not know what was going on, they just wanted to show the public freak animals and say LOOK, aniamls that are deformed EWWW! The two faced animals were extremely odd, and yes that is a result of growth hormones and genes gone wrong... but as for the piglet at the end with cyclopy, that just made me sad, that they would even attempt to keep an animal going that did not even have nostrils (or a nose) to breath through properly, along with a cleft palate! She died what... after 2 or days of being alive? Such a severely genetically deformed being is simply not meant to make it. As for two snakes or turtles stuck in the same body... (i do not beleive two headed is proper terminology simply because they are two separate beings) as long as they can function, they are able to make do!
