Just a brief introduction. My name is Kris, my family and I live in eastern Iowa. I have three children ages 10, 8 and 5. Just to set the record straight I do not want a snake. However my kids's do.. shudder shudder shudder.... more of a dog person myself.
Anyway's, after some dicussion about who will care for the said snake, where it would be kept ect ect ect. we started looking into what kind of snake. I like the bright orange/red of corn snakes however it's illegal to house them within our city limits. No constrictors allowed, wich led us to garter snakes.
So without further ado.. It's nice to meet you all and I suspect I'll be asking a ton of newbie questions.

Garter snakes have a way of causing folks to fall in love with them
They have a lot more personality than many other species.
