    go ahead - try it at home

    last year I put my snakes in brumation in gender tanks and then introduced them to their partners in spring
    at the time my parietalis male just ended up hiding from the females
    since my vet mentioned three times (at least) that they tend to mate in fall - his words: "three weeks after the male goes off feed, I put them together and - boom!"
    so I thought - what the heck, I'll just put them out there in pairs - a little more space and labour intensive, but if it increases breeding success . . .
    so that's what I did yesterday - moved several tanks into the sunporch, with all that that entails
    and a mere hour later I can say that apparently the parietalis male is no longer scared of the big girl

    how big is that girl she is at least 3 times the girth of that boy but how long is she wow

    plus they are very pretty snakes close to same coloration should produce nice babies
