    [ask] fish contains thiaminase

    does anyone kno if catfish is thiminase free or not? do u have an article supporting it? thx

    I'm afraid that it would be impossible to tell, without knowing the exact species. There's a list of fish that contain/don't contain thiaminase and even different species of the same genus appear on both lists. Generally speaking, fish that live in colder climates and in fresh or brackish water seem to be (personal observation, not fact) more likely to contain thiaminase than saltwater species and species from warmer areas.

    I just googled a bit, I could find at least one catfish species that contains thiaminase.
