people dont realise what they are getting themselves into and the pet stores dont care. one of my brothers friends (aged 15) has got a rainbow boa (i think thats what it is) and he has asked me if i can find a home for it so i am taing it and the viv and finding a home for the snake but keeping the viv for my tetras when they grow up

I agree -- much more education on the nature and size of these snakes, PLUS more diligence on the part of the pet stores, to check that they are making a wise decision to sell such a creature.
Not much different, on one level, than selling a firearm or something. I mean, people must know the consequences of buying, selling, and owning something like this.
They are very docile, generally amicable (Boas) which is great, but when a kid ends up owning a 2 or 3 meter snake that can eat housepets (and kids too ) that isn't practical.

i agree! i wasnt impressed when i heard he had got a boa but it wasn't long after he found i had my garters so maybe i put the idea in his head.
but i defo think that the pet stores should take more responsibility when selling things like that, especially when they can reach 14ft.

    hey,
just read in our newspaper,a guy, duck hunting in Wisconsin, came across a four ft. Alligator,he's now looking for a taxidermist to mount it.At first glance he thought he had seen a snapping turtle.
