Yep, they are still around. Several people are working with the project including myself. Yellow and blue phase pugets are rare in the hobby bc there is difficulty getting them to breed in captivity. There have been gravid wild caughts delivering their young in captive collections. I am working with a captive bred pair now and hopeful to produce hatchlings soon.

    Hi Al,
Please let me know what you get when you get babies.

There are keepers who own either male or female individual pugets. And have had difficulties obtaining opposite sexed individuals for breeding purposes. Some people just want a pet and aren't interested in breeding.

The sides look nice. How is the stripe on top? It looks more white/cream.
The ones I had years ago had blue sides with a greenish dorsal stripe.

Because garters are typically polymorphic and differ like most snakes by locale alot of variability can be seen in coloration and patterning. There is also the possibility of intergrade appearances in certain individuals. Age of a snake will play into its appearances as well. Maybe what you had was a yellow phase puget whose coloration in dorsal striping falls into the spectrum of yellowish to greenish dorsal striping.

yellow pugets have yellow sides and yellow dorsal. he said his had blue sides and white dorsal. a few of the blues i had this spring had blue/green sides and yellowish dorsal which is still considered a blue. the reds are really nice too but the blue is def the choice of many keepers
