    Garter snake ate leaf?????

My checkered garter snake, Solomon, is almost 3 years old. He has been in his humidity box for the past few days. He came out and was active today so I gathered a few worms for him. While I was giving him his last worm, he started acting weird and biting a rock nearby. I guided him away from the rock and he instead grabbed a pothos leaf from a plant in his enclosure. I tried to get him to let go but the leaf ripped in half and he immediately ate it. He then ate the worm that he had been ignoring right afterward. About an hour later he shed and was active moving around his cage and climbing sticks I have in there for him. I'm scared that he will not be able to digest the leaf. Should I try to get him to regurgitate the leaf or give him a warm bath to ease digestion? I know sometimes snakes eat their substrate accidentally and it passes through their system but I have not been able to find anything on google about snakes eating a leaf. I appreciate any advice, thank you!

Digesting it shouldn't be a problem. I think trying to get it to regurgitate could be problematic, I'm not sure about pothos toxicity. Keep us posted on the situation.

I hope your snake is ok. That is kinda funny though it got so excited over the food it ate a leaf.

No need to worry about any toxicity problems. Chameleons and the like can eat it. I wouldn't really go nuts with the soaking either the snake will probably pass it just fine.

Thank you all for your replies, you have eased my worries a bit. I checked on him this morning and he is doing fine as far as I could tell. He was burrowed under his aspen and came out once I opened the lid. I'll continue to keep an eye on him and update with any changes. Thanks again! This is a great forum to be a part of and I'm glad I found it so I can search for any other "freak" accidents that I may come across with my little dude. I've had him since he was the size of a worm himself so I'm glad to know he will probably be okay.

You might want to feed a couple night crawlers. That will help to push the old out and add for water to protect the system.

Gave him two night crawlers and he ate them quickly. He still has been active, watching me from his enclosure so I think he's doing well

I had a female while gravid do this as well. She was in feeding mode and the leaf shook and she grabbed it. When I tried to make her let go she ripped it in half and ate it lol.
