    How much to feed

I have a 2 month old California Red sided. My question is how much do I feed him. I have been feeding him 6/7 feeder fish twice a week. Is that enough?

You must be talking about feeder guppies. Even then that seems like an awful lot. I also have a two to four month old Cali red sided and I feed him a rosy red every three or four days or a pinky every seven days.

Roses red minnows contain thiaminase and should never be fed to your snake.

I am aware of the risks but it is not an issue as he eats pinky mice so gets plenty of thiamine. I only was using the rosy reds for a size comparison.

The sooner you switch to a mostly rodent based diet for your animals the quicker they will start to become healthier. That is too much fish for the poor guy. If you have to , just cut up pinkies into size appropriate pieces for the snake. He should be fed every 3 to 4 days more rodent than fish will help .

I had Rodentpro send me some some pinkes. I will try him on them. Biggest issue I have with him is he is such a timid fellow. I have to leave the room for him to eat.

Try and get him a tight fitting hide or hides to boost his sense of security. Young snakes, and snakes in general, need to feel secure before they will feed comfortably.
