I'm from South Carolina and surrounded by snakes. I'd like to learn more so I'm not so afraid of them. My neighbor just killed a pygmy rattlesnake. So far all I have is a Brown Water Snake living in my raised flower bed. I"ve had three or four on my porch but mostly Black Snakes and some I could not identify other than I don't think they were poisonous.

I'd advise you educate your neighbor on the benefits of snakes
They do more good than harm, and won't mess with you unless you mess with them.
