I know this isn't the place to go for a 100% accurate answer, but I just wanted some of your educated opinions
I've had Steavy for 8 years and I was sure he was a male because of his small size (16 inches). But yesterday I was reading your topic on snake genders and it got me thinking maybe a Steavy is a Stephanie

Sometimes angles can make things deceiving in pics. To my eyes the pic you posted looks female. A side pic of the tail would also be helpful. There is a chart here near the bottom of the page that many find helpful: Alan's Garter Snakes - Maintenance of Garter Snakes
