New to site and Garter Snakes

I am new to this site. My experience is with venomous mainly although I have gottten rid of all snakes. I recently aquired an 18" garter snake found in a field next to my home. I have set it up and it is devouring night crawlers. Would someone be able to help me identify the species and sex. It was caught in Omaha, Nebraska.

    Salaam,
    Steve
