Only 1 scrub?

I have a large WC garter that my son has had for a couple months. Today I was cleaning the cage and found one healthy scrub. I was so surprised! Mama is quite active today, a lot more than usual. Welcome. I would say it's unusual but certainly not unheard of. Be sure those baby/s are kept well hydrated. A container with moist paper towels will do fine.
My guess is T. sirtalis sirtalis - Eastern garter. What part of the country are you in? Be sure to introduce yourself in the "Welcome Lounge"

I had a garter drop just 1 baby last year, but with this snake being a large wc I would say give her some alone time so she's not stressed and she will more than likely have more. Good luck!

Mama is a T. Sirtalis Fitchi. We live in Fresno, California and most of the garters around here are Valley Garters. Baby seems to be exactly the same. It's been two days and she hasn't had any more scrubs. Baby is doing well and eating earthworms. We've raised this kind of garter before. They are a beautiful black snake with three yellow stripes and some red under the side stripes and a grey belly. Mama never has gotten very used to us so we may return her after we make sure she's good and healthy (we rescued her from a suburban area where she certainly would have been killed) and keep the little one. Mama will like the fields outside Fresno.
