    ID Help

    IMG950327.jpg

Hey folks, this is a snake picture sent to me from Eastern NC. I know my snakes pretty well, but i'm from the western side of NC, and haven't seen a garter snake since i've lived in ENC. I'm calling this a garter snake, but is this red phase normal in NC? Locale- Jones County, NC What say you?

Yup, in the mountains they tend to be brown with a bright yellow stripe, in central wetland areas I've seen mostly blue/green (Florida Blue) types, and near the coast you see erythristics
