    Re: Identify

Hi Justin, I'm afraid I can't even see a snake in the photo, let alone identify! You could post a photo straight into the thread by following these instructions...

    Re: Identify

Welcome aboard, Justin. I'm afraid you're going to have to post a better picture.

What species are there in Pennsylvania? Sirtalis, brachystoma and sauritus? Sauritus has a pretty distinctive look (compared to the other two) and should be easy to rule out.

Yeah, that's right Stefan. This link might help people who are a little unsure about Garter Snake distribution...

    snakefinder

Chances are it will be T. s. sirtalis, but a decent photo would confirm that. Oh, I found the snake in the pic now, I just needed my specs on!

Justin, Your first few posts go into a queue for 'moderation' before they appear on the open forum (hence the delay). The photo upload button will appear once you have posted about 4 times....it's just a precaution to prevent spammers from posting porn etc.

Stonyloam is Terry! One of our members! Most of Stonyloams snakes are Maritime Garters Thamnophis sirtalis pallidulus. I think it most likely you have an Eastern Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis.

True, but the scientific names are the same all over the world. Just chose your snake's latin name.
