Noobie Question

Hey guys!

I have a question that may seem pretty stupid, but I've been wondering about it for quite a while now. When you guys say you have (for example) 2.2 snakes, what does that mean? Does it relate to genetics or gender or what??

Again, sorry. This is probably a stupid question, but I am still fairly new to talking about snake keeping online. >.<
