Typical garter. Has Sully done a "sand eel" yet? Where suddenly a head pops up from the middle of an undisturbed patch of aspen. That's our Nobby's favourite move.

I have a pair of young milk snakes that do the same thing. They're unusually skittish and when I approach they squirm backwards down into the tunnel.

With all the time they spend underneath the substrate, it's a wonder we find any in the wild.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.
