    Question Same subspecies different color

(I have been told and assume that it is true) That you can cross a flame sirtalis sirtalis wih a florida blue sirtalis sirtalis. Same sub species. Just different colors. but what about different colors of eastern garters? would you have the same results(Except different colors of course) and can you release a native snake in a non-native color( I'm not going to i was just wondering) or would that destroy the point of camoflauge? Thanks!

    Re: Same subspecies different color

I wouldn't release a native snake in a non-native colour. Considering that the coloration is usually typical for a certain population, it makes the snake non-native, despite the fact that the same subspecies inhabits the area.

I have to agree with Stefan, Locality does make a difference.
