    Re: Identify

Hello I'm writing to update you all on my snake thats under my porch...
I haven't seen the snake for about a week now, however today I see a
snake that looks a lot like the other, but much smaller...I got it with a worm tied to a string he/she seemed very hungry....anyway there is pics
in my gallery I couldn't figure out how to post them.......so now maybe we
can figure out exactly what type of garter this is?

P.S. the snake is about 12" in length, but looks very healthy so I'm sure its a juvenile but is it possible that the other snake had babies and this is one?

    Re: Identify

yes that is the snake I caught today.....and that is basically the same pattern of one I first was trying to identify here weeks ago....but I haven't seen it in a week or so and still have not...but then this one shows from
the same exact place under the porch and I was able to catch him/her?
my other question was, can this be one of its offspring...the one I caught
is about 12 inches long and is smaller of course than it looks in the pics....

    Re: Identify

If this young one is already 12" in length, it would hve been born last summer. T. s sirtalis are only around 6" long at birth and normally born late June to August.

    Re: Identify

I am new and don't know a whole lot about garters,do they stay in the same area of birth or what....I mean I seen no other snake under my porch, just the adult sized one that I put on here in the first place...
and now I get this one after a while of not seeing the other from the same exact place......

I agree, it looks like an Eastern (sirtalis) to me. Thanks Lulu and KITKAT for helping to post the picture. What nice people we all are!
