Re: Easterns that I have met

Was out splitting wood this afternoon and came across this beauty just catching some rays on top of an old cherry log. Had to look twice to make sure it was not one of my pool snakes. Am not sure I have seen this one before, nice "maybe marathon" . Matches her surroundings pretty well I would say.

Re: Easterns that I have met

Just thought I would document some of "my" snakes here this summer. There is a really big one (might be the “big Eastern” I have yet to get a shot of. So far here are a couple: I know this one looks like the same snake as the last two, but she is not. She is getting ready to shed and has a few more gold highlight than the others, and lives on the left side of the pool, the other on the right. I almost think that these are the snakes that I kept for a while a couple of years ago, I’ll have to go back and check some photos. This has been a lot of fun, the hard part is training them to crawl up onto my hand for the photos.

This guy (maybe gal) has taken up residence behind the pool filter, right next to the pump. Seems to like the warm air from the motor. Not the best photo, had to use the flash

Robert, I think I owe you an apology. Didn't think anyone would believe that I could actually do that . Best I can do is get them to sit there for a while for a pix. When I pick one up I cup the snake in my hands and up against my body. Make sure the eyes are covered. After a little while they will start to relax, and say "this is warm and dark, so it is not too bad". After a while longer they will just sit there after you take your hand off, anyway long enough for a portrait. Kind of stinky sometimes, but works, especially on a cool morning.
P.S. This technique does not work with milksnakes, they try to chew their way out.

Steve, is this a boy? Looks a little thick in the middle, me thinks.

I'm guessing it's a female but Cabana Girl didn't sound right.
