Re: Feeding Frenzy Follies
These little scrubs cleaned this plate in record time tonight.
This group of 60 are really tugging at my heart. They all make eye contact and have got begging down to a science.
No story to tell, just a bunch of growing radixes.

Re: Feeding Frenzy Follies
Tonight was the start of round 2 of Panacur medication. Most of them took their med. in a pinky. This is my girl Lucky Look-a-like. Great snake but tonight 1 medicated pinky wasn't enough. The smell of pinky juice must have still been pretty strong. She grabbed my finger and tried to position it to be swallowed. Then she started to feel my finger nail and decided it wasn't for eating. Moments later she grabbed the side of my hand and gave it a taste. She was very intent on eating it until I waved a pinky at her. She stopped chewing and watched it. Then she quickly let go of my hand and took the pinky. She never drew any blood and never really set her teeth in. I think much of it was to gain my attention. Well, she got it and a few pinkies. She's one of my snugglers. Love to come out and just sit on my shoulders or in the hood of my sweatshirt as I do chores. Not trying to get away just hanging out. This is one of the things that makes me love radixes. They seem to encourage interaction and like it. Look at the intensity on her face in the second photo as compared to the first. She's trying to make a point.

Re: Feeding Frenzy Follies
The first time my fish-eating sirtalis concinnus were fed together, I never did it again! one little touch of fish on the snake's body and all other snakes thought it was food! I had a tangled mess of snakes, all biting each other. And you all know how difficult it is to get them apart without injury, once they get ahold of something that they think is fish.
Even after feeding them separately, sometimes, I'd forget to wash my hands when I went to put them back in their tanks. Ooops! Do that with a 3.5 foot female concinnus and see what happens to your finger! I mean, I know she loves me, and didn't mean it, but good lord, my finger was halfway down her throat before I could react!
Other times, when feeding separately in bare containers, they will try to bite the floor or sides. It's hilarious. oh, and just try to cook fish for your human family when you're sharing your house with fish eating garters. They smell it and go absolutely bonkers!

I was feeding my biggest common garter goldfish and she bit my finger. First time I have had a garter bite that broke my skin

Alright! Now you're getting somewhere! You can't possibly bond with your garter until it tries to eat you!

Agreed! Nothing like watching one of your family chew on your hand!

Re: Feeding Frenzy Follies
LoL. gotta love them. We die-hard garter fans understand why there is an entire forum dedicated to garters! Most people are like "wha..?? Garter snakes? but they are so ordinary... "
But I digress. Nothing; no other snake species I have kept have been capable of diverting my love for garters, even while a garter is chewing on my finger!
