    that is definatley infernalis.

    Where in marin did you catch that beauty??

    I usually find nice looking infernalis around china camp and point reyes but never any that are that nice

    In the parking lot of a restraunt bar that we stopped @ for oysters. I sure am glad my wife bugged me to stop

    that's fine too
    since we are talking about the same snake
    now i realize they are called that as well
    with the state name in front of it, that makes it clearer
    when you call it just a red-sided, I think you mean T.s.parietalis - hence the confusion

    Maybe I should of titled it with the scientific name rather than the common name. That is why it is so important to have the scientific name when ordering snakes.

    I also looked in the Peterson Field Guide by Robert Stebbins. It too calls the snake California Red-sided Garter Snake.

    Also, I would like to say thank you for the warm welcome from everyone.

    I hope to get out there again this week to hopefully find a mate You would just have to come to California to pick up the garters offspring, since legally I would have to gift them out "in" California
