Re: Easterns that I have met

Terry thought I should add this photo here...it's also in the pale male thread.

There are at least 2 other big females in our yard this year plus at least a dozen males.

Re: Easterns that I have met

Okay, I went herping for two hours again today and found TONS of garters! I even found the "Attitude" snake a mile from her previous location. :P
Also, I brought home a little male who has black diamonds near a high yellow neck, and the diamonds turn into a black stripe on the first scales with a very yellow stripe above it on 2 and 3. I found snakes in areas I never knew had them, and there were no garters at the garden plots, leading me to believe they migrate to their area. :O

what a great bunch of pictures, i can see ive got a lot to learn about these little guys, definately where species and morphs are concerned.
Do a lot of people on here that breed these guys, breed for a certain colouring?
or do you all just let nature take its course?

I've been intending to try for decent pics of my melanistic Easterns for ages, but haven't got around to it.
Here's a couple of shots, but they're not very good I'm afraid.

    yep, defenitly good enough!

Melanistic easterns are about the hardest subjects to photograph...It looks like my camera can't focus because there isnt much contrast in these snakes...

It's a nice day today...I'll head outside in a few moments, taking the black with me...

Pretty satisfied with the result. I tried several backgrounds (white, pink, black and green), but this seemed to work best...

Very nice, Sjoerd. It is very difficult to photograph a black subject, isn't it?
