I remember a thread about the San Francisco Garter a while back and some participants are of the opinion that plain old hobbyists couldn't become a part of the conservation efforts of garters, particularly captive breeding programs and reintroduction programs.

In now having dart frogs, I've recently found the Treewalkers.org site, and their project the Amphibian Steward Network. I know only what I've read online, and don't know how the org is viewed by the academic community, etc. but if anyone is interested, it could be a good model for Thamnophis preservation, and maybe a way to get some tetrataenia into our homes, and finally back in the wild some more.

Anyone familliar with the TWI and ASN programs, and whether or not they are well-respected??
