    Injury !

While putting my snakes back into their bin one ended up having their tail over the edge when I locked the hinge ! Almost 2 inches of his tail got cut off !! What do I do ?! He is in a small container on papertowel with only a water bowl in the bin. I feel so aweful ! The bleeding is minimal, can I put some polysporin on the tip ? It is after the vent so I am hoping he will be just fine !

Put polysporin on it 2-3 times a day and make sure it stays clean of poop and urates. I don't think he'll ever breed, though if he got that much of his tail cut off... If it hit the hemipenes.

Keep it clean, dry and use the polysporin. Can you get some pics up for us? Leave him on the paper towels until he's healed, that way the substrate can't get into the wound and cause infection.

Well to start this day I will say the bin where this incident happened is in the garbage. I woke up to him being his usual self, and no regurge thankfully - which is great because he only usually eats every second feeding already.

I will say in the pics it doesn't look like there was that much missing, but there was a lot of tail cut off !

Plenty left. Shouldn't have too much trouble recovering. Poly it every day for a week. Once a scab forms it should heal fine.
You'll want to watch the next couple of sheds to make sure they are complete.
    Best of luck.

Yes...luckily it doesn't look close too the vent. Do as Steve, Kat, and Chantel said and put the antibiotic ointment on...watch carefully to make sure he gets the shed off around that area in his future sheds...and watch closely for tails when closing lids on enclosures. Watch for little heads too...my snakes like to pop their heads out of the top sometimes when I am closing the lid.
