Sure, they know the difference if you're just placing your hand near them FIRST. As in, it's not feeding time. They come rushing out, check out the hand, realize there's no food and get bored and leave.

But if you feed them first, and they're all worked up into feeding mode, forget it. They'll bite anything, including your hand.

hmm Can't say I've ever been bitten and had blood drawn. I've caught quite a few snakes so far, mind you I was only bitten once when I was 7years old n caught a little baby garter, and being young I taunted it with my pinkie finger... low and behold just what it latched on to lol

You will eventually come across one that draws blood.
I wish you luck in this quest.

I've only just seen this thread. My Eastern Melanistic female has bitten me twice now and both times she never wants to let go. The last time she tagged me was last week and after I finally got her off my hand she tagged my girlfriends arm. I find it funny how once you stop bleeding the bite looks pitiful

Yeah, my concinnus who is quite frightened of me did it. She kept getting substrate literally glued to the front of her mouth, and it worried me, so naturally, I held her up to my face and she didn't like it one bit.
