I have a condition!
Window incident
OK, i wrote this in my snakes thread, cause i didn't think anything was wrong, but i need more attention on it. Cause now there might be.
I wrote:
"Red just scared the crap of me. And I feel terrible.
I was taking pictures of him, holding him in front of the window as usual, but he wasn't holding still... as with all my snakes, if I set them on window sash they sit still, enjoying the sun, and it makes a nice picture. (see my contest entry)
I rarely do it with my babies, cause i just dont, but I set Red there...
Anyway he ended up going down this little hole, the one that leads down the... it's the thingy... ya know, the...
This thing:

I got really stressed cause obviously that was bad. I didn't want to open the window, cause I was sure it would hurt him. I waited, and tapped on the side some and I could hear him moving but couldn't get him to come up.
The little pig had already eaten today, but I knew with his love for food that was the only thing I could think of. Stuck a chunk of worm (on the hemostats) down the hole, and slowly pulled it back out...
I just did what I thought would get Reds attention, and it worked.
I went over to put the worm, and looked up... there was his head sticking out of the hole. Showed him the food, and he launched himself out of the hole.
I gave it to him, of course. He's quite fat."
I'm kicking myself that i let that happen, and didn't even see it until he was halfway down. (couldn't do a thing) But he seems OK as far as i can tell."
Now... I see this. I have a feeling he just got it, but i don't know if it's anything bad. See it?

Re: Window incident
things like this show up on snakes from time to time. It's nothing to worry about. Often it just goes away with time.

Re: Window incident
Really? So that's not a cut or anything?

Re: Window incident
No. More like an indentation. I'm not really sure why snakes get this sometimes. I don't know if maybe it has to do with rapid growth or other developmental causes but it usually goes away. It's located right at the soft stretchy groove they have (whether you can see the grove or not, it's there) that allows them to stretch when eating a large meal.

Yeah he's fine. All of my snakes have gotten things like that at some point or another. None of my snakes have died due to my mistakes(yet, I guess) and it helps me learn, I guess you learned something by this mistake.

Re: Window incident
Like they said, nothing to worry about If it's a cut you'll see either some sort of fluid or crusting from dried fluid around the area. It's good that you can bribe him with food though. That's always a handy bargaining chip.

Re: Window incident
The guy could be in the worst possible situation and still want food.

Re: Window incident
Yeah, I could see it now. He's hanging out of a cat's mouth, and he's like "hey, is that fish on your chin? Can I have it?"

Hey, if I was on my death bed, I'd at least like a filet mignon, pizza and a glass of coca cola.
