Feeding Problems

hey guys 1 have 2 wild caught baby garters about 10 inches in length.
they have been set up for 4 days now, after day 2 i tried to feed them worms, they attacked them but then regurgitated them pretty fast. so now 2 days later i tried to feed them again and they dont seem interested in eating at all?? i dont no what im doing wrong, they usually take worms no problem am i correct??

Did they spit them out or actually have a regurge? Let them settle in for a week/10 days, then try again. They may still be too panicked to eat yet. Also, cut the worms into pieces. They'll be easier to swallow and keep down.

if these are newly caught snakes, it can take a couple weeks for them to adjust to captivity and eat. you can also put feeder guppies in a shallow water dish, they should take those ok too

I'd give them a week to settle before trying again. What type of worms were they? There are toxic worm species out there. The most common toxic worm is used for composting and has red bands running around it's body. They're commonly referred to as 'red wigglers' and used for both fishing & composting. I've heard of snakes regurging these and then not wanting anything to do with them after one feeding. These little guys are not stupid Good luck with your babies and keep us posted on how they're doing!

hey guys thanks for the responses, he spit it out is what i meant and after that he hasent even looked at those worms again lol. and i will give them some time and pick up some guppys. the worms were bait worms used for fishing labelled dew worms, they were pick fat guys that i cut into chunks. but so far they are doing great in there new home i will post pics tonight
