    South of the border Garters

There seems to be some wonderful Thamnophis south of the border. I never hear anything about them. Are they available to US collectors? or any other collectors.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.

There are one or two Mexican species coming available in Europe now. T.melanogaster is on my list for 2010.

I think you might be right there, Jason.
We have got a couple of Mexican members too, there are photos of their Garters available to see in our Photographic Library (in the 'Articles' section).

More and more are becoming available nowadays!
I think Steven Bol had at least 3 or 4 southern species available last time. Some are europes first breedings. Great looking snakes!
I've seen Thamnophis eques cuitzeoensis, Thamnophis eques scotti,
Thamnophis melanogaster canescens, Thamnophis eques obscurus, T. fulvus and probably even more species!

In europe they are indeed becoming more available. Very nice to hear.

I have also 2.2 T. eques cuitzeoensis. They are quite different in behavior then the other snakes. Very nice, although I don't see them much.
