Steve, I like you because you seem to share that same "connection" with your garter snakes that I do. Not that I feel that my snakes have bonded with me, or "love" me, but there is something very magical about the way that they interact with me that I just can't describe... it's like a drug. and I am pretty sure you know what I am talking about, and not most do 
I'm a pretty scientific person when it comes to how I view my snakes, and I know that they are rather unfeeling, emotional-less creatures. But they are just so darned intelligent, and you can actually tell that there is SOME sort of thought process going on in those little heads.
