I've got my security camera ready. Now, I just need to build the enclosure. Have the area picked out.
Spring will be here soon and I can get started.

really?!!! do you think you could hook it up to the internet? we had this one camera for our dog when she had puppies.... there was no one home at certain times of the day so all you had to do to check on them was go to the website and there they were! a live feed with sound too!

Yes, this is one of my plans. I plan on lighting the den, also. Just something to enhance the camera. The night vision side of it isn't very good, in my opinion. If and when I do this I want high quality video.

How often and how long would the light be on?

The light to be on for short(minutes only) observation times. Otherwise, I'll let the night vision work. If you have any info. with regards to the light as a problem please let me know.

Keeping the light on for longer periods could mess with the snakes, but I have no idea if the night vision would. From what I can tell, the light is just outside of our visible spectrum.

edit: apparently garters are sensitive to near-UV wavelengths, near-IR shouldn't bother them.
