Last Saturday at about 10:00 AM I was walking in the woods along a path after being frustrated not seeing any snakes of any kind for a few years, then bang there must of been 20+ garter snakes just hanging around not really doing anything, this is mid August had this been March / April it would be because they emerged from hibernation. Might it of been a bunch of gravid females hanging out finding a good spot to have their babies? on another path I now see at least 5 newborn garters a day they are all over, needless to say I brough 2 adults from that 20+ or so I saw and I have 4 week old or so babies all eating worms I guess my question is to get to the point. Why was there so many garters together all at once? I've returned daily for hours and hours looking for more in that exact spot and found nothing. Seems it was a 1 shot deal.
