Full responsibility for her death falls solely on my shoulders.
It was my mistake that allowed her to escape. (kicking myself as we speak)

Steve, It can happen to anyone. Just one of those things! It's the same with the birds......... If only I had done this..... or what if I had done that.......? I have had several incidents with birds and lost them due to a mistake on my part. Indeed the little Merlin that I rescued, rehabed got flying again..... has been in the vets for the last 6wks with serious infections in both feet. Getting better but very slowly. and I blame myself. But Merlins are notorious for ailments in captivity. Once she is better then she will going into an aviery at a friends house because she is nolonger suitable for release.

Re: Santa Cruz (T.a.atratus) on the Ranch

It happens Steve...we all make mistakes. I have walked away from my tanks leaving the lids off for no other reason than I just wasn't thinking or got distracted...I have been very lucky in the fact that none of my snakes have managed to escape. We live, we make mistakes, we learn from them...it's called "being human".
