    Unexpected find!

Alright guys. I was up at my friends parents house for the weekend just having a good time, and my friends girlfriend comes down stairs and tells me that my friend Tyler needs my help outside right away. So I put my shoes on really fast and ran out there and guess what? He found a Garter! His mom freaked out and his dad had to go inside because they are afraid of snakes. I bent down and picked the little critter up. I took some photos. Hope you enjoy!

Good looking female T.radix. Probably gravid.
    Nice find.
    I have to ask.
What would have been done with the snake if you weren't there?

She was gravid. If I hadn't been there it would have been killed due to ignorance. My friends mom refused to listen to me. Even when I had the snake contained his mom was telling me to kill it. Don't worry. I found a wild life refuge just down the street and I brought her there. She is about two blocks from where I found her. However I don't know if she was a T.radix. She had a very similar pattern to the wandering garters I find around my house. She was a little different though. Lighter and more little spots. And the stripe that ran down her back was a khaki tan color. I wasn't sure of the sub species. You may be right. She was sweet though. No musk or striking or anything. Would have been a great pet for my friends mother

Nice wandering! I haven't had much luck finding many wanderings where I usually go herping.

Yeah, I didn't think it looked like a radix either. Nice find anyway.

Telling people "kill it"... I hate it when that happens. I mean, why?
